Big yellow machine

Site Supervisor Robert Day happened to be in town the morning the new Caterpillar D9 Dozer made its grand arrival.

“I happened, by chance, to be in Bunbury the morning of the delivery and saw an escort vehicle and a shiny new bulldozer, which was obviously heading to Muja Power Station,” Robert said.

“In that magical moment, I realised all the collaboration between Synergy and Monadelphous regarding the machines had come to fruition.”

The Caterpillar D9 Dozer has officially joined the heavy vehicle fleet at Muja Power Station, replacing its predecessor. This isn’t just an upgrade, though; it’s a smart one. The new machine introduces a range of improvements that are already turning heads on site.

“The big yellow machines are critical here,” Robert said, pointing to their role in keeping the station running smoothly.

“It makes such a difference for our day-to-day movement of coal. In fact, the majority of their working life is spent pushing coal up over the conveyor feeders to ensure supply to the station.”

With the addition of advanced tech like automated blade assist and joystick controls with auto shift, feedback from the crew has been glowing.

Robert said the machine’s quiet cabin and improved ergonomics have been a hit, and the upgrade has given the team a noticeable morale boost.

“Fantastic feedback and a morale booster for the Operations team,” he said.

The machine underwent a final fit-out in Bunbury, before being rolled onto site ready for action, and it hasn’t disappointed.
