We recently welcomed 14 Follow the Dream students from Bunbury Senior High School to our Employee Development Centre (EDC) in Bibra Lake as part of our ongoing partnership with the Polly Farmer Foundation.
Our Apprenticeship and Traineeship, Indigenous Engagement and EDC teams spent the day with the students, discussing career pathways at Monadelphous and learning about the construction and engineering industries.
The visit included a range of activities to build confidence and give students insight into the workplace, including basic fire training and an Elevated Work Platform (EWP) experience. Many students stepped outside their comfort zones to take part, gaining a better understanding of the skills, training and strong safety culture that are the foundation of our work.
A highlight of the visit was hearing from Trainer and Assessor, Sean Garvie, who shared his career journey with Monadelphous and spoke about the opportunities that have shaped his path.
Workplace experiences like these help students gain a greater understanding of our industries, while providing insights into the pathways, skills and opportunities that can lead to a rewarding career in construction and engineering.
Through our longstanding partnership with the Polly Farmer Foundation, Monadelphous is proud to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across Western Australia to achieve their educational goals, build confidence and explore their future career aspirations.
