In late October, the Bunbury community came together to make a powerful statement about unity and reconciliation.
The streets around Koombana Bay saw locals of all ages marching hand-in-hand, celebrating Aboriginal cultures and supporting the journey toward reconciliation.
The day kicked off at the Bay with music, face painting, and activities for everyone, from primary school students to Aboriginal elders.
Led by the sounds of the didgeridoo and escorted by WA Police, walkers made their way along Koombana Drive, passing through a traditional smoking along the way to the Graham Bricknell Memorial Music Shell, where refreshments, treats, and a sausage sizzle awaited.
Special guests proudly hoisted the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and Australian flags.
Our team South West team were also joined in, walking alongside the community. Skylar MacFarlane and Hannah Dooling also managed to get a snap in the Bunbury Herald!
The event, originally scheduled for June 3, is part of National Reconciliation Week, a time for all Australians to reflect on shared histories, celebrate cultures, and explore ways to contribute to a more inclusive future.
