On Thursday 10 September, people across Monadelphous came together to recognise R U OK? Day, an important reminder that a simple conversation can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
Across our sites and offices, teams participated in activities that encouraged connection, sparked conversations about mental health, and highlighted the support available to employees and their families.
In Perth and Brisbane, our R U OK? Day Cafés brought people together over coffee, cupcakes and KitKats, creating opportunities to check in with colleagues and start meaningful conversations. Both offices had an OK Support Wall which remained on display throughout the week, giving employees the chance to share messages of support and wellbeing tips with one another.
The Melchor head office team, together with colleagues across our project sites, marked the day through a range of activities, including Toolbox Talks, team initiatives and barbecues, providing a valuable opportunity to step away from day-to-day responsibilities and connect with one another.
The team also proudly raised MATES in Construction flags in recognition of the organisation’s important work supporting mental health and suicide prevention across our industry.
While R U OK? Day serves as an important annual reminder, supporting mental health and wellbeing is something we focus on year-round. Employees and their immediate family members can access free, confidential counselling through our Employee Assistance Program EAP provider, PeopleSense.
Thank you to everyone who participated in R U OK? Day. Remember, every conversation counts. If you're thinking about it, ask R U OK today and every day.
