Koolbardis Foundation’s football and netball teams recently took to the court and field with support from Monadelphous at this year’s Syd Jackson GWABA Aboriginal Football and Netball Carnival in Bunbury.

Through the Monos Community Grants Program, sponsorship funds went directly towards team uniforms, helping players represent Koolbardis and their communities with pride during the October carnival.

Now in its 26th year, the carnival brings Aboriginal communities together through sport, culture and connection.

GWABA means ‘to play’ in Noongar, with the event providing an opportunity for players from across the regions to showcase their talent and strengthen connections across generations.

Koolbardis’ Division 1 football team continued an impressive run, reaching its fifth consecutive Grand Final.

While the team fell short of backing up last year’s premiership, another grand final appearance was an achievement worth celebrating.

On the netball court, the Division 1 team put in a determined effort and represented Koolbardis proudly.

There were also individual performances to celebrate, with multiple Koolbardis players receiving team MVP awards and overall carnival MVP honours.

Behind the results was a collective effort from coaches, managers, trainers, water runners, families, supporters and volunteers, whose contributions helped make the weekend possible.

“We are incredibly grateful to Monos for supporting our players and helping make this possible,” Koolbardis Foundation shared.

Monadelphous was proud to support Koolbardis’ participation in an event that celebrates Aboriginal sporting talent, culture and community.
