The Pink Stumps fundraiser at Roxby Downs was more than just a cricket match—it was a great night out for the community, with plenty of banter, runs, and a little less fielding than usual.
As part of our sponsorship, a few familiar faces attended the match under the town oval lights, including Michael King, Simon Fawkes, Thomas Carling, and Jamie Miteff.
Local cricket legend Randal ‘Rags’ Wyatt also stepped up to the crease, though his performance may have been slightly influenced by his hydration strategy.
“There were a lot of runs scored, but not a whole lot of fielding, as the players in the field were keeping well hydrated,” Jamie said.
The event was a fantastic way to bring people together, especially those who wouldn’t usually associate with cricket.
With both men and women getting involved, the game had a friendly and relaxed vibe that made for an entertaining evening.
The Pink Stumps Day, hosted by the Roxby Districts Cricket Association (RDCA) with support from community sponsors, raises funds for Breast Care Nurses throughout Australia.
The community event featured a T20 game with players from the RDCA as well as members of the Roxby community, bringing even more people together for a great cause.
All in all, it was a great night with a strong crowd in attendance, plenty of laughs, and a brilliant way to support a good cause.
