High heels, car parts, old books and even a stray mattress, our Kalgoorlie crew picked up it all during this year’s Keep Australia Beautiful Week.
Around 10 volunteers tackled their usual spot on Anzac Drive, turning a messy stretch of road into a cleaner, safer space for everyone.
“We managed to fill up the back of one of our Utes with all sorts of items!” HSE Officer Farnush Ahmari said.
“We picked up mattresses, toothbrushes, and mascara to car parts, cosmetic products, old books, purses, and even a pair of high heels.”
KAB Week reminds us that litter isn’t just annoying; it can harm wildlife, pollute landscapes and affect community health. This year’s theme “Picking up the Pieces” highlights the shared responsibility people have for restoring and maintaining the beauty of the Western Australian environment.
By pitching in, our teams show how small actions can make a big difference.
Monadelphous has supported this campaign for years, with teams returning annually to “their” spots or finding new ones to clean up and make a real impact. We encourage every site and our people to get involved in local KAB events that may be coordinated by Monadelphous, our customers and clients, or a local council or community group, and help in any way we can.
Initiatives like this form part of our greater commitment to the environment and our community investment, focusing on supporting our people and the communities where we live and work.
