As we kick off 2025, we’re celebrating the dedication and teamwork that make Monadelphous such a great workplace. January’s Monos Moments highlights outstanding individuals who went above and beyond, demonstrating our core values.
Our first winner for 2025 is Natalie Hunter from Muja Power Station.
Natalie played a key role in responding to a recent cybersecurity incident. When advanced phishing emails bypassed initial security layers, Natalie quickly identified and reported a genuine phishing attempt. Thanks to her vigilance, the cybersecurity team was able to investigate and identify other affected users and prevent any serious damage or data loss. Her integrity and accountability set a strong example for the entire business.
Let’s also celebrate our other January winners, who will each receive $50 Gift Cards for their recent contributions:
Jamie Thomson – Safety and Wellbeing
During a Safety Inspection, Jamie discovered two loose pipe packer plates on a newly built scaffold, approximately 8m above ground. Given that the area below was a high-traffic delivery zone, these unsecured plates posed a serious safety risk with a potentially fatal impact. Jamie’s attention to detail and quick action helped prevent a major incident, reinforcing Monadelphous’ commitment to safety.
Mark Holdman & Elli Brashaw – Safety & Wellbeing
When Worsley Alumina teammate Greg Swallow noticed an issue with his eye in mid-2024, a routine check-up led to a cancer diagnosis. Facing logistical and emotional challenges, Greg received extraordinary support from Mark and Elli.
Mark ensured Greg had transport from Collie to Perth for specialist appointments, prioritising his well-being over operational impacts. Meanwhile, Elli from our Health & Rehab team arranged Income Protection and personally attended medical appointments with Greg, helping him understand complex medical information. As Greg continues treatment into 2025, Elli has also secured additional support through the Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS).
Mitchell Cavanagh – Integrity, Achievement, Teamwork & Loyalty
Mitch was crucial in supporting the Biological Oxalate Destruction Early Contractor Involvement (BOD ECI) tender for the Major Projects team at Worsley Alumina. Over eight weeks, he demonstrated professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to teamwork, delivering an outstanding submission for our client. Without hesitation, Mitch stepped up to meet tight deadlines—starting early, working late, and dedicating weekends to ensure success.
Thank you to all our December winners for embodying the Monos' spirit! Each of our nominees will receive a $50 Gift Card as a token of appreciation for their dedication and hard work.
