Our August Monos’ Moments winners!

Written by Communications | 29 Sep 2025

This month, we’re celebrating proactive thinking and teamwork, with winners whose quick actions and innovative thinking helped prevent a potential major incident.

Luke Green and Clint Smith

Luke identified the potential for a crane boom to strike a structure supporting a plant airline due to poor visibility down at Worsley Alumina Refinery. Raising the concerns initially in pre-start, Luke and Clint worked quickly to resolve the issue by installing strip lighting around the surrounding structure and airline highlighting it for the crane driver. This reduced the risk of crane and structure contact that could have caused significant damage to the calciner equipment and posed a potential for serious injury. Their combined efforts prevented an incident that could have had major safety and operational impacts. Well done, guys!

We also had an impressive line-up of nominations this month, highlighting care, initiative, and reliability across the business.

Rob Duncan – Rob is a highly skilled franna operator who not only excels in his role but also regularly steps up to support others around the plant. His readiness to help where needed, combined with his technical skill, makes him a dependable and valued member of the team.

Rosalind Seclier & Timothy Hall – Both showed incredible generosity by volunteering their own personal time to transport a colleague to and from work for several weeks. Their selflessness and kindness prioritised the needs of others above their own, demonstrating care that extended far beyond the workplace.

Ross Cartledge – Ross is recognised for his approachable manner, reliability, and positive attitude. He consistently ensures that work is completed safely and to a high standard, making him someone his teammates can always count on.
