The Pipeline

Our July Monos’ Moments winners!

Written by Communications | 28 Aug 2025

This month, we’re recognising quick thinking and diligence in the field, with a winner whose actions prevented a potentially serious incident.

July Winner:
Ben Marsh
While working on a pipe installation, Ben identified that the piping isolation attached to the permit had been modified, with a green isolation lock removed from the lock box by the client in error. Being the permit holder for the job, Ben immediately notified the permit hut and his supervisor, prompting a client investigation. His attention to detail and commitment to verifying isolation details prevented his team from working on an incorrectly isolated pipeline, avoiding the potential for serious harm or damage.

We also had a strong line-up of nominations this month!

Adam Keon - Provided critical assistance with an urgent breakdown repair, allowing the issue to be resolved quickly and avoiding the need to shut down both units on the MFC and HTC. His prompt support prevented significant disruptions to production across the refinery and likely saved the business thousands, if not millions, of dollars.

Brock Rogers and Jayden Collard - As main team members on the complex Side Stream Tanks Replacement project, Brock and Jayden completed the work three days ahead of schedule. Their safety focus and work ethic quickly earned high praise.

Clint Smith – Clint identified a hazard in RTO2 where a stiffener beneath a spark mat posed a hidden risk. His observation has improved safety in that work area.

Cooper Tatafu - Joined the NGF Binduli CV301 project mid-way, saw it through to commissioning, and handled final punch listing and sign-off while the Project Manager was on leave. Cooper extended his roster to ensure the job was controlled and completed to a high standard, continuing to support both the site team and client.

@Ed Smit - Designed a Hopper Sock that works effectively to prevent damage to beads falling from the conveyor. Another example of Ed’s practical problem-solving.

Elli Stirling - Assisted an injured person after hours to arrange urgent medical appointments, ensuring the best possible outcome. Her dedication to injury management went above and beyond, even with personal commitments at home.

Grant Rayner and Kya Mcbreen - Stopped work to raise safety concerns on their assigned job, showing initiative, ownership, and the confidence to speak up when something did not seem right.

Jack Bennet - Recognised by the client for exceptional skill, craftsmanship, and professionalism. Jack regularly worked extra hours during shutdown to meet deadlines, setting a strong example for the team and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and teamwork.

Kyle Jones - Takes extra care when loading and securing trailers for site deliveries. His attention to detail ensures loads arrive safely and on time, saving time for everyone involved.

Nathan Munday - Plays a pivotal role across projects in the Southwest, assisting beyond his estimator role with QA/QC and supervision when needed. Known for his reliability, diligence, and willingness to step in wherever required.

Natasha Burn - Over the past year, Natasha has driven core safety principles, improved the working environment, and strengthened team culture. Her efforts have helped achieve a sustained step change in HSE performance.

Reece Depiazza - Consistently supports others, even outside his own responsibilities or personal time. Promotes safety by remaining vigilant, raising concerns, and suggesting improvements.

Rob Mackenzie - Advocates for his teammates by raising concerns, sharing observations, and promoting open communication. Encourages a culture where safety is shared and everyone’s voice is valued.

Steve Cormie - Responded to a client’s after-hours call when both headlight globes failed on a vehicle. Steve ensured the vehicle was repaired before it returned to service, aligning with the shared safety culture between Monadelphous and Western Power.

Tayten Dowson - Stepped up from admin officer to the workforce management team to cover early maternity leave. Adapted quickly to her new role, maintaining a positive attitude and embracing all tasks.

Todd Harrington - Introduced a dedicated blow-down area for workers, a practical innovation that improves safety and wellbeing while showing commitment to continuous improvement.

Another outstanding month of initiatives, problem-solving, and care for each other’s safety and success. Congratulations to Ben and to all our July nominees!
