Senior leadership changes – a message from our Managing Director

Written by Communications | 31 Oct 2022

At Monadelphous, we are fortunate so many of our people count their experience with Monadelphous in decades rather than years, and this extends to our senior leadership team. This long service has allowed us to create a long-held succession plan for some of our most senior roles. Earlier this month, the time came to implement that plan, as we announced a number of changes in our senior leadership team.

Retirement of current Executive Chairman

After more than 30 years of service, John Rubino, our Executive Chairman, will retire as a Director of the Monadelphous Board for health reasons, effective at the close of our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 22 November. John was instrumental in transforming Monadelphous from a company that was on the brink of collapse 30 years ago, into the successful business we enjoy today. John commenced as Managing Director in January 1991 and took up the position of Executive Chairman in May 2003. John has loyally served Monadelphous and dedicated himself to the success of Monadelphous over that time.

Appointment of new Executive Chairman

With this, I am honoured to take on the role of Executive Chairman following our AGM. When I joined Monadelphous in 1989 as Group General Manager, it was a very different company to the one we know today. It’s been a great pleasure to serve as Managing Director of Monadelphous since 2003, and to have played a part in seeing Monadelphous grow into one of the most respected engineering services providers in Australia.

Appointment of new Managing Director

As I move  into the role of Executive Chairman, Zoran Bebic, our current Executive General Manager of Maintenance and Industrial Services (M&IS), will step into the role of Managing Director at the conclusion of the 2022 AGM. I, along with the Board, believe Zoran’s personal attributes, Company and industry experience, financial acumen and deep understanding of the markets where we work makes him the perfect choice for Monadelphous. I know many of you will have met Zoran during his 30 years with the Company, so please join me in congratulating him on his appointment.

Appointment of new M&IS Executive General Manager

Alastair Reid, currently M&IS General Manager – Strategy and Innovation, will be appointed to the role of M&IS Executive General Manager. Al joined Monadelphous in January 2015, within the M&IS division, and has played a key role in the development of the division’s growth and diversification strategy and in operational roles over the past seven years. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the delivery of engineering and construction projects and management of maintenance and construction businesses. We are delighted to see Al take on this important role.

Appointment of new Engineering Construction Executive General Manager

After more than 30 years at Monadelphous, Dino Foti, our current Engineering Construction (EC) Executive General Manager, had earlier in the year advised us he would be stepping down from the role at the end of the year to take some well-deserved time out. Dino has led the construction of many of Australia’s (and the world’s) biggest resources, energy and infrastructure projects and he has built the best engineering construction team in the business. Importantly, he has motivated and inspired so many Monadelphous people to do exceptional work, to be the best and to deliver what we promise.

With this, we have also announced the appointment of Adam Cook, who’s currently EC’s Head of Projects, to the role of EC Executive General Manager to commence at the conclusion of 2022. Adam brings over 25 years of experience working in engineering and construction to this important position. Dino and Adam will be working closely to provide a smooth transition.

I hope you’ll join me in wishing Dino well and in supporting Adam through the transition.

The next chapter

Change provides the opportunity for new growth and, as we look towards our 51st year in operation, this is an exciting time for our business. We are built on strong foundations, and we will be working hard together to achieve our Monadelphous vision and strategy for continued growth into our next chapter.

Zoran, Al and Adam will continue to work closely with the other members of our long-serving Executive Management Team Phil Trueman (Chief Financial Officer), Dean Brajevic (General Manager Human Resources) and Chris Tabrett (General Manager Strategy and Growth).

I look forward to continuing to build the future of Monadelphous together.

Editor’s note: Keep an eye out for a series of new videos where we will take the opportunity to get to know our new Managing Director and Executive General Managers over coming months. If you have any questions you’d like us to put to them, please feel free to send them through to communications@monadel.com.au.
