Welcome to another edition of In the Loop, which we start on a very sad note. As you may be aware, we tragically lost two of our team members in the Hunter Valley, Kane Symons and Jessica Crosley. I know that many of you, particularly in New South Wales, would be impacted by the loss of Kane and Jess, and I would like to extend my deepest and heartfelt sympathies to you all, and their family and friends in what I know has been a very difficult time.
It has been great to see our team’s pull together, not only to raise funds in support of Kane and Jess’ families, but also to celebrate their lives and the memories shared. On a lighter note, we recently celebrated NAIDOC Week with a range of exciting and thought-provoking activities taking place across our business. We all have a role to play in our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, so I hope you found an opportunity to bring your team together to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
I have been busy travelling to meet with our teams and customers across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria over the past couple of months. A highlight was meeting the team at our newly acquired business, BMC. M&IS Executive General Manager, Al Reid and I visited their workshop in Morwell and the Loy Yang B Power Station project in the local area. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve in the region in the months ahead.

You may have heard, as part of our ongoing commitment to safety, we are rolling out a Fatal Risk Control Campaign over the next 12 months, aiming to strengthen our approach to controlling potentially fatal risks within our workplaces. Across our sites, you will be provided with a series of resources and activities to help ensure our people make it home safely at the end of each day and swing. Please take the time to get involved and to continue to be vigilant about what you and your teammates are doing.
