Strategy, success, and riverside connection

The EC Division recently held its second Town Hall for 2025 at the picturesque Beaumonde on the Point. It was a full house with not a seat to spare, drawing over 200 attendees in person and online – our biggest turnout yet!

With MC Dave Reynolds steering the afternoon with his signature dry humour, the event delivered a rich mix of updates, insights, and engaging discussion. The Town Halls continue to be a valuable opportunity to network with one another and hear directly from different parts of the division.

Pieter Burger opened with a CGP3 values moment, featuring a video series captured by the division’s own timelapse cameras. The footage showcased the strong teamwork, agility and leadership that was key to the early delivery of key project milestones, most notably the dry plant construction. It was a great demonstration of our values in action and delivering what we promise.

EC Executive General Manager, Adam Cook then took to the stage to present the Company’s 2024/25 financial results, divisional highlights, and an overview of the two-year project pipeline, setting the tone for the strategic direction ahead.

Following Adam, Lorna Rechichi, GM of Strategy and Growth, unpacked the EC Divisional Strategy with a particular focus on energy transition, highlighting the division’s role in shaping a sustainable future.

National Pre-Contracts Manager David Salmon continued with a market-focused update on the Engineering and Construction division’s project pipeline, tenders, and opportunities.

Project updates followed, with Zak Campbell sharing the success of the Car Dumper 3 (CD3) Shutdown, Miles Winthrop discussing Pluto Train 1, and Ryan O’Rourke providing a deep dive into Melchor’s role as head contractor for the Geraldton Port Maximisation Project (PMax). Rocco Ravella highlighted Alevro’s work on the Perdaman project, while Phil Brunger spoke about Inteforge’s contributions at Prominent Hill.

A panel discussion on the upcoming InEight system implementation brought together Adam Cook, EC Divisional Services GM Michael Brady, EC Projects GM Russell McBain, Project Manager Paige Griffiths, and Divisional Contracts Manager David Deetlefs. The conversation explored how the new system will enhance our project delivery and operational efficiency.  Whilst we still have a long way to go, it was good to hear about the progress being made and the value this will bring to our business.

To close the formal presentations, Senior HR Advisor Callan Wills walked the audience through our People Strategy, development opportunities, and a celebration of recent service milestones – highlighting the importance of investing in our people.

The event concluded with a general Q&A session and a final salute from Adam, wrapping up a Friday afternoon filled with learning, connection, and a few well-earned canapés.

A shoutout to our presenters for bringing energy, insight and authenticity to the stage. Thank you for sharing your stories and your passion, and for stepping out of your comfort zone to bring the event together. Your contributions are what make these events a true reflection of our culture and collective momentum.
