We’re excited to shine a spotlight on our latest Tinny Time winners who have gone above and beyond to champion safety and teamwork.
Tinny Time is all about recognising the everyday actions that make our workplace safer and more supportive. Whether it’s lending a hand to a workmate, checking in to ask “are you OK?”, speaking up when something doesn’t look right, or receiving feedback in a positive way, these moments help us build a culture of care and accountability. Our monthly winners exemplify these values, showing how small actions can make a big difference in practice.
MAY
Dale Hose at Prominent Hill for speaking up. Dale noticed wind conditions were too strong for a safe EWP operation while co-workers prepared to enter the lift. He immediately raised the concern with the spotter and operator, who appreciated the heads-up and safely packed up the machine. Dale’s proactive approach prevented risk and kept the team safe.

JUNE
Patrick Sole at Jansz-IO for helping out. Patty has been a standout on the BWI Jansz Project, applying meticulous attention to detail and the highest safety standards in electrical installation. His commitment and positive attitude have influenced his teammates, helping build a culture of excellence across the crew.

JULY
Bevan Palmer at Prominent Hill for checking in. When a colleague received difficult news, Bevan showed genuine compassion, taking time to walk alongside them and simply be present. His empathy and willingness to support others exemplify the humanity that strengthens our workplace culture.

AUGUST
Roisin O’Brien at Orebody 32 for helping out. Roisin mentored new starters on radio protocols and improved site safety by relocating signage to safer positions. Her leadership and initiative made a real difference for spotters and drivers. Roisin has since moved to Jimblebar, where she continues to make an impact.

SEMPTEMBER
Natasha Janosevic at Pluto Train 1 for helping out. Tash brings boundless energy, positivity, and creativity to every project. Whether cracking jokes to lift spirits or diving headfirst into tasks, she inspires collaboration and joy even in challenging moments. Her enthusiasm embodies the true spirit of Tinny Time.
OCTOBER
Abie Mathetha at Prominent Hill for speaking up. Abie identified non-compliant equipment – double-action snap hooks incorrectly fitted to static lines – and raised the issue immediately. Thanks to Abie’s attention to detail, corrective action was taken to ensure compliance with Working at Heights standards. Abie’s sharp eye made a big difference!

Looking ahead
A heartfelt thank you to Dale, Patrick, Bevan, Roisin, Natasha, and Abie for your outstanding contributions. Each of you has shown that small actions, whether speaking up, helping out, or checking in, can create a powerful ripple effect across safety, wellbeing, and teamwork.
As we enter the final stretch of 2025, we’re excited to see even more Tinny Time nominations and to continue celebrating the exceptional efforts that make our workplace safe, supportive, and resilient.
How to nominate a Tinny Time champion
If you notice a teammate going above and beyond, don’t let their efforts go unrecognised. Simply let your supervisor know, and they can submit a Tinny Time form to share that positive impact across the EC division.
By nominating, you’re helping us shine a light on the everyday actions that strengthen our culture and inspire others. Let’s keep the momentum going by keeping the nominations coming!
