Meet Bruce

We recently caught up with Site Superintendent Bruce Ewen in Cape Lambert to talk about his role and life in the north-west.

Bruce is a Monadelphous long-termer, having worked within the Mining & Minerals North West business for more than 14 years. In his current role, he ensures day-to-day maintenance operations run smoothly.

“We carry out shutdowns each week with most times Port A and Port B running consecutively and with one week’s shutdown running into another – this can make timing, logistics and manning requirements quite challenging,” Bruce said.

“With the assistance from our Perth-based workforce management team and our Karratha branch, we bring the required manning together successfully to ensure safe execution of our shutdown activities.”

Working FIFO from Perth, Bruce says that he stays in Wickham more often than not and it is a second home to him, which is why he is passionate about being involved with local sports clubs and not for profit groups.

“It is a great community to be amongst, I came from the bush originally so to be in a country town with the ocean alongside it is an absolute buzz for me,” he said.

“It is also great to be involved with the community including the football club and all the other local kids sports that we do – it gives a great sense of pride and sense of belonging to the community that we work in.”

“We have been involved with the Wickham Wolves Football Club up here for a number of years, including sponsorship and raffles. Last year we supported the club with the Big Freeze and helped to raise over $21,000 for that which was a great achievement.

“There are a lot of other things we support such as the local basketball and the PCYC out in Roebourne. This is all really important because we are not just working in the community – we are part of the community.

Bruce is in the north-west for the long haul, loving the laidback outdoors lifestyle that comes with the territory.

“I love Cape Lambert and we have a great team up here – we have really been a part of this community for a long time, so I look forward to the future here and to keep doing what we are doing,” he said.
