No two days look the same for Zach Lynch, and that is exactly how he likes it.
As a superintendent, Zach thrives in the fast pace, problem solving environment, and the variety that comes with leading teams on site, especially within the Roxby crew, where he says the culture speaks for itself.
“What I enjoy most about my role is the diversity and challenge it brings; no two days are the same,” Zach said.
“Working with the Roxby team has been particularly rewarding. There is a strong culture of teamwork and mutual support, and everyone is willing to help where they can.
“We have built a solid, reliable group of people who take pride in what they do.”
Zach joined Monadelphous in August 2013 as a boilermaker and has steadily worked his way through team leader, supervisor and senior supervisor roles before stepping into his current position.
Along the way, he has built a strong understanding of leadership, safety and what it takes to deliver in a high performing environment.
“When I first entered the industry, my intention was to spend two or three years working in the mines before heading back home to pursue something else; like many people say they will,” he said.
“As it turned out, the opportunities, challenges and people I encountered along the way kept me engaged and motivated to stay.
“Over time, I developed a strong appreciation for the work, the responsibility that comes with leadership, and the ability to contribute to a larger team and projects.”
Zach’s story starts in Burra, a small town near the Clare Valley in South Australia, where he left school at 15 and began working in shearing sheds before his uncle advised him to consider moving into a trade.
He now lives in Wallaroo with his wife and three young daughters, making the most of his time off by fishing and camping with his family.
Looking back, it is the connections made along the way that stand out most with Zach.
“There are plenty of great memories from my time at Monadelphous, but the standout would have to be the people and the friendships formed along the way,” Zach said.
