Fabrication at its finest

Over the years, Monadelphous has continued to grow our service offering to our customers and provide a fully integrated approach, giving us greater control and our customers peace of mind.  

Fabrication is an important part of this offering and is an area we have continued to achieve growth in over the years, including in the south west, where our team offers large-scale and quality fabrication services to customers across Western Australia.  

A recent example of this is when our team was engaged to supply and fabricate an apron feeder for a customer in the Pilbara on a tight time frame. The team managed procurement, processing and fabrication weld.  

Nick Jokich, our Works Manager in the south west, explained how the team needed to have a clear action plan to ensure successful delivery.  

“The structure, when completed, weighed in at 68,000 kilograms, so careful planning and coordination was essential. We had to ensure we modulated frames to be fabricated and fully welded prior to being assembled as this mass would not be able to be maneuvered around to accommodate welding positions once assembled.”  

He went on to explain what a big milestone it was for the team, given the size of the structure.  

“This has been the heaviest single lift structure we have ever fabricated in our workshop. The previous record was 43,000 kilograms – maybe 100,000 kilograms will be our next target.”  

This project was delivered within the budget, on schedule (even with additional works being requested and completed) and, most importantly, safely – a testament to our highly skilled and talented team.
