Business Brief
Adam Cook
EC Executive General Manager
At our recent EC Town Hall, I had the pleasure of presenting two EC Teamwork Baton Awards - recognising outstanding collaboration, problem-solving and commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes for our division and our customers.
Jimblebar TLO Pre-Contract Teams - September EC Teamwork Baton Award Winner
The Jimblebar TLO pre-contract teams were recognised for the collaboration and significant effort that went into securing the BHP Jimblebar Train Load Out (TLO) contract, a milestone achievement for the EC division. Over the past 18 months, multiple EC business units worked together to merge two major scopes into a single contract, creating our first fully vertically integrated project.
When BHP combined the bulk earthworks and SMPEI+fab packages, the challenge was significant. It required close co-ordination between Melchor, EC Projects, Inteforge, Heavy Lift, and E&I to negotiate and confirm a single major contract. Every team brought their expertise to the table, demonstrating respect, inclusion, and a readiness to learn and improve.
What stood out most was the shared commitment to delivering the best outcome for both our customer and our business. This achievement reflects strong leadership, robust systems and processes, and a culture of consultation that will underpin successful delivery within an operating BHP site.

Helios Project Team (InEight) - October EC Teamwork Baton Award Winner
The second award celebrates the outstanding resilience, persistence and ownership shown by the Helios Project Team in designing, developing and implementing the InEight Project Management System, a key enabler for standardising major project delivery across the EC division.
This achievement required extensive engagement and teamwork from many parts of the division. Whilst the core Helios team is relatively small, they consistently collaborated with SMEs and project teams to ensure the system meets operational needs. From development and testing to implementation and ongoing support, the team has embraced feedback and driven continuous improvement.
Balancing schedule, budget, resource constraints and technical challenges, the team progressively unlocked modules and launched them onto new projects. This milestone not only delivers on the investment objectives but does so with a collaborative and empathetic approach, bringing all stakeholders along the change journey.
Once fully embedded, InEight will provide significant benefits – streamlining processes, enabling one-touch data use, improving visibility of performance, and creating a consistent way of working across projects. This is a game-changer for EC, and it’s thanks to the dedication and teamwork of the Helios Project Team.

Please join me in congratulating the Jimblebar TLO Pre-Contract Teams and the Helios Project Team (InEight) for this well-earned recognition. Thank you to everyone involved - your actions embody the spirit of the EC Teamwork Baton and set a benchmark for collaboration and integration across our division.
If you know a team worthy of a Teamwork Baton Award, I encourage you to nominate them! Let’s keep the baton moving and keep building a culture we’re proud of, where teamwork drives safety, success and strong outcomes for our customers and each other.
