We’re proud to announce that the 6th EC Teamwork Baton has been awarded to the CLAHDO Project Team, in collaboration with Lycopodium, EC Projects and Melchor. This recognition celebrates an exceptional display of teamwork, quick thinking and cross-project collaboration that turned a potential setback into a success story.

The Teamwork Baton is all about recognising the power of teamwork and how we can achieve more together than we ever could alone.

After it was discovered that multiple piles had been installed in incorrect positions due to a surveying error, the situation could have significantly impacted the project timeline.  Thanks to the quick communication and united problem-solving effort across business units the project was steered back on track. By bringing together the support and expertise from the CLAHDO, CD3 and Melchor teams, the impact on schedule was minimised to less than three weeks.

The CLAHDO and CD3 project teams worked closely to retain the piling rig at CLAHDO, which required CD3 to reschedule their own mobilisation. In a further show of teamwork, the CD3 team gave up their fabrication slot for piling cages to ensure CLAHDO could continue without delay. Meanwhile, the Melchor team stepped in to provide additional support by exploring options for fabricating piling cages themselves.

Russell McBain, General Manager – EC Projects, praised the collaboration.

“What was great to see amongst the teams involved was the clear commitment to finding the best solution to the problem at hand whilst working under considerable pressure - not just focusing on maintaining individual project status.

The interaction between the project teams was always positive and solution-driven, and such a great testament to our culture.

Thank you to everyone involved, particularly as much of the planning was facilitated over the weekend.”

The Lycopodium Design Team and Wagstaff also played a key role, delaying piling for another customer to support the resolution - an act that reflects the strength of our partnerships and shared values.

The customer commended the teams for their proactive and effective response. The incorrectly placed piling was on the project’s critical path and could have caused significant delays, especially with the six-week lead time for piling cages. Instead, the teams re-sequenced other works onsite and reduced the overall impact to under three weeks.

A huge congratulations to all involved in this well-deserved recognition. Your teamwork, resilience, and commitment to doing what’s best for the business exemplify the spirit of the EC Teamwork Baton.
