The team are charging ahead making great progress in the construction of a wet processing plant at the Iron Bridge Magnetite project in the Pilbara.
Delivering structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation (SMPE&I) works at the wet plant, the team arrived onsite in August 2022, and are now transitioning to the completion phase of the project.
Project Manager Mark Cox commended the team for working hard and delivering for our customer.
“We have made a productive start and are now progressively handing over subsystems for first ore circuits,” he said.
“This is an exciting project milestone, and the team should be proud of themselves for safely delivering this project as it shows the amount of work that has gone into the project so far and the many efforts of our team on site,” Mark said.
Safety remains a top priority for the Monadelphous team at Iron Bridge, with zero medical treatment injuries (MTI) and lost time injuries (LTI) recorded after six months on-site.
“Even at our peak of 280 personnel, the team have been operating in a safe manner which has resulted in an excellent safety record to date,” Mark said.
As is the case with working in the Pilbara during summer, the team have been addressing the weather conditions with various controls including additional ice rooms, increased shade humpies, upgraded air-conditioners, additional camel backs and water bottles, scaffold shade areas, misting fans and dedicated “cool zones”, and bi-daily walkarounds handing out Sqwincher hydration icy-poles.
“Despite the challenging weather conditions, the morale of the site team is high, and our focus remains on the safety of our people and delivering a successful outcome for our customer,” said Mark.
Throughout the 2022-23 Christmas/New Year period, there was a daily average of 118 personnel working to ensure the project is on track.
The hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed with positive feedback streaming in from the customer and a surprise visit from Dr Andrew Forrest AO at pre-start to thank the team on site.
“Our customer is happy with how the team has forged ahead and the progress that has been made so the whole team should be proud of their efforts,” Mark said.
Well done team for kicking big project goals!
