Since we started mobilising to site back in September 2024, our team at Orebody 32 has been making great progress. Orebody 32 is a significant construction project we are undertaking for BHP Iron Ore in their Newman Operations mine area, involving the installation of approximately 12 kilometres of piping for dewatering surplus water from the mine operation.
Project Manager Alex Ford said that the team has cleared and grubbed around 11 kilometres of the pipe alignment and strung and welded around eight kilometres of HDPE DN800 and DN710 pipe.
"The team has been doing a fantastic job to deliver the works safely, to the highest standard, and on time,” Alex said.
“We’ve excavated and installed DN800 pipe at Homestead Creek crossing, completed earthworks for the valve station pad at Ophthalmia Dam and poured the concrete slab at valve stations.”
Reflecting on the project so far, Alex expressed pride in the way the team has worked together.
"Together, we have made fantastic progress for our client so far, which is a credit to all involved and means that we are on track for completion in September this year,” he said.
