On your drive to Greenbushes, in the south-west region of Western Australia, you will note the picturesque landscape, filled with small towns and local hiking trails - quite a unique environment compared to many of our other locations.
While working at Greenbushes on our Mining Service Area project, HSE Advisor, Steve Allum came across two distressed hikers who were walking in the bush surrounding the work site. The couple were locals to the area and during their walk, one of them had fallen and broken her leg.
Steve approached the couple and waited with them until the ambulance arrived. It was difficult for the ambulance to reach them due to the overgrown trail and recent weather making the ground muddy. Steve helped to guide the ambulance, removing fencing and clearing the area as required so they could get as close to the injured woman as possible.
He supported her throughout the entire process and waited until she had received medical attention, even helping to carry her on the stretcher back to the ambulance. He then helped guide the group back out of the area and drove the man, and their dog, back home.
Steve was recognised by our customer at their monthly safety forum for going above and beyond in the name of safety. An awesome display of what it means to live by our safety culture – well done Steve!
Tinny Time
Have you seen a teammate live and breathe our safety culture, either out on site or in the office, displaying behaviours, both big and small, that align with our values? Nominate them for a Tinny Time – our EC reward and recognition initiative.
It only takes a few minutes to make someone's day by helping them get recognised for the good work they do.
