The importance of our Life Saving Rules

As you may be aware, there have been a number of workplace fatalities across our industry recently – our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to the families, friends and colleagues impacted by these tragic events. It has been a terrible loss for our community and is being felt deeply throughout our industry. At times like this, I encourage you to reach out to your colleagues and leaders for support, and please know our employee assistance program is always available if you'd like to talk to someone. 

As you are well aware, safety is not something you or I can do alone. It is up to every single one of us to embed safe practices into everyday work activities to keep yourself and your workmates safe. To support this, we have Fatal Risk Controls and Life Saving Rules which aim to prevent serious injuries and fatalities across our operations. In light of recent events, I would like to redraw your attention to our Life Saving Rules video which was launched a few weeks ago with the aim of creating a shared understanding of our commitment to safety.  

Please take the time to watch this video and think about the role you play. This video will also be shown at upcoming Toolbox meetings across our projects and workshops, so I encourage you to talk to your team about our Life Saving Rules and how they protect your life and the lives of others every day.
