Leadership Updates
1 Minute Read

G’day everyone

Welcome to the latest edition of In The Loop.

In this issue we visit our Gladstone Workshop, who have demonstrated innovative thinking while looking for the Safe Way to complete a routine work activity – tube sheet repairs as part of the heater refurbishment process. The team designed and fabricated a purpose-built frame from material readily available at the facility – a tube sheet face support. Read more about the innovation here, and a huge congratulations to the team on being nominated for the 2023/2024 Monadelphous Managing Director’s Safety Innovation Award.

Staying in Gladstone, the QAL operations team have had an innovation of their own – a portable winching frame to remove J-Pipes from inside flash tanks. This cost-effective and original concept eliminates the likelihood of team members being in the line of fire when the J-Pipe is removed. Another worthy nomination for the 2023/2024 Monadelphous Managing Director’s Safety Innovation Award – well done to the team!

Heading to the Bowen Basin, the team successfully executed two major dragline shutdowns simultaneously in Blackwater and Moranbah. The Bowen Basin shutdowns required significant resources, with peak staffing reaching 110 in Moranbah and 90 in Blackwater. The successful completion of these projects strengthens our expertise in managing complex logistics and shutdowns and is a testament to the exceptional coordination efforts of the team in Mackay.

At Monadelphous, we are committed to giving back to the community – for the past two years we’ve supported the Mackay and Rockhampton Kart Clubs, witnessing their incredible journey of growth and success in the region. Our partnership with these clubs led to the creation of the Monadelphous Intercity Challenge – now in its second year.

Keeping with community, across our Australian offices and operations, we observed NAIDOC Week, a time to celebrate and acknowledge the rich history and achievements of First Nations peoples. In June, some of our teams took part in ‘The Push-Up Challenge’ to raise funds to improve mental health awareness and suicide prevention. We also went green for ‘Keep Australia Beautiful’ in August, with our Gladstone team rolling up their sleeves and doing their part to make a positive impact on their community.

At Monadelphous, we aim to grow and develop our people, promote health and wellbeing, share good times with our teammates and look after our local communities. As part of this. our refreshed employee benefits program, Benefits@Monadelphous launched in June and has been designed with you in mind – learn more about Benefits@Monadelphous here.

Thank you to everyone for your dedication and hard work as we head into the last quarter of 2024.

Take care and stay safe.
