Helping a mate - It's what we do

Tinny time recognises and celebrates the moments where people go out of their way to help one another, check in on their work mates, speak up and own receiving feedback in a positive way.

Whilst completing work in our Gap Ridge yard in Karratha, the crew could hear someone calling out for help in the neighbouring yard. Someone had become wedged between a large stack of railway sleepers that had collapsed when they released the strap.

The crew leapt into action and rescued the injured person where they were able to free him. One of the crew had the foresight to jump in the franna in case it was needed, thankfully it was not as the crew were able to lift the timbers off the injured person and release him.

“It’s great to see the team spring into action to help out a mate in a very serious situation which could have been a lot worse if they hadn’t of heard the person,” commented Travis Gaspar, Heavy Lift HSE Lead.

The team involved were Andrew Weaver, Deon TeMuha, Lucas Sanders and Jonathan Chambers. Well done to the team for helping a mate out of a dangerous situation.

Tinny Time moments are when we look out for our mates and happen every day, they include things such as:

  • Helping out – giving a hand to a workmate
  • Checking in – asking a workmate are you OK?
  • Speaking up – raising a concern with a teammate
  • Owning it – receiving and acknowledging feedback in a positive way

Celebrate your mates and nominate who you believe should be recognised for their contribution by advising your supervisor during shift debrief, or during re-focus sessions.
