Introducing you to one of our new incoming Heavy Lift team members, and the biggest crane in Australia – the Tadano 1,600 tonne capacity crawler crane.

Joining us officially in July 2024, the 1,600 tonne crane will get straight to work on the BHP Car Dumper 3 (CD3) Replacement Project, and remain on the project for approximately 12-months.

While on CD3 we’ll be undertaking specialist engineering, heavy lifting and have support team working alongside the Engineering Construction (EC) Projects Team.

Currently, the 1,600 tonne is on the manufacturing line, check out some of the pictures below.

The credentials:

  • Load movement of 27,456tm (capacity at 1m radius) v 700T Liebherr load moment of 9,650tm
  • Lifting capacity of 583 tonnes at 42m radius, 90m main boom length (with 800T counterweight) compared with capacity of 205t @ 42m radius with our new 700T Liebherr  
  • Dual engines are tier IV – meeting global emission standards
  • Includes preparation for later attachment of boom booster combination
