In March we have an opportunity to stop and celebrate the achievements of women, particularly those in our lives, the exceptional women we work alongside and the trailblazers in our industry to advocate for greater gender equity as we mark International Women’s Day.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Embracing Equity, emphasises the importance of acknowledging that every individual has unique circumstances, and requires specific resources and opportunities to achieve equal outcomes.

Heavy Lift General Manager Lorna Rechichi spoke on the day and acknowledged the progress we have made in embracing equity.

“International Women’s Day is a reminder of the progress we’ve made, however there is plenty of work that still needs to be done to ensure an equitable future,” she said.

The Heavy Lift team came together via Teams and in the Perth office to discuss the importance of International Women’s Day and what embracing equity means to them. We spoke to a few people in Heavy Lift and asked them what embracing equity means and to share their favourite relevant quote.

Nick Marchesani, Tendering and Project Services Manager – “As a father of two daughters, I want them to achieve their dreams, have equal opportunities and be valued and respected for who they are.”

Bostyn Bryden, Planning and Logistics Coordinator – “There’s no force more powerful, than a woman determined to rise and succeed”

Aaron Close, Commercial Manager – “I look forward to the day equity allows my daughters to access the same opportunities that I have had. For me, International Women’s Day helps highlight how far we have come, and the work that is still required to promote equality.”
