2 Minute Read

Over the last couple of months, we are thrilled to have announced a series of exciting contract wins that promise to propel us even further and offer more opportunities for our Heavy Lift team. Here is a closer look at the four contracts that have recently come our way and will include engineering, cranes and equipment, and specialist heavy lift teams.

Liontown Resources, Kathleen Valley Lithium Project:

Our most recently awarded contract with Liontown Resources at the Kathleen Valley Lithium Project in Western Australia's Northern Goldfields region is a multidisciplinary contract that involves delivering a wet plant. Work on the approximately $100 million contract is already underway, with completion expected in mid-2024. In fact, we’ve already sent one of our newest team members, the 400 tonne Tadano (CC24.400-1) to site to get started!

Earlier this year our fabrication business, Inteforge, was awarded a fabrication scope on the project consisting of 3,000 tonnes of steel, which is now more than 50 per cent complete.

Talison Lithium, Greenbushes - Chemical Grade Plant 3:

In yet another milestone, Monadelphous is pleased to announce the acquisition of a major contract valued at approximately $160 million for the construction of the Chemical Grade Plant 3 (CGP3) at Talison Lithium's Greenbushes site in Western Australia. This comprehensive contract encompasses the installation of a new crushing and screening facility, a lithium concentrate processing plant, tank and piping fabrication works, and electrical supply.

Our Engineering Construction (EC) team is gearing up to commence work later this year, with completion anticipated in the first half of 2025.

2 x 400T and 1 x 300T crawler cranes and crew, together with Hydraulics, will be supporting this scope, building on our strengths to deliver these projects as an Integrated Team.

Albemarle, Kemerton Lithium Plant – Trains 3 and 4

A remarkable addition to our portfolio, we’ve secured a massive construction contract with Albemarle for work at the Kemerton lithium hydroxide plant valued at approximately $200 million.

The contract involves front-end pyromet structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation (SMPE&I) works for two new lithium processing trains (trains 3 and 4). This achievement follows our successful delivery of construction packages on trains 1 and 2 and the recently awarded long-term maintenance and sustaining capital projects contracts at Albemarle's Kemerton operations.

Work will begin later this year, with completion expected in the second half of 2025. Albemarle's Kemerton lithium plant is the largest outside of China and is set to be the largest globally, with expansion underway.

This contract, together with CGP3 and Kathleen Valley, means that our EC team have secured work approaching half a billion dollars in the rapidly emerging lithium sector in the last couple of months.

1x 400T and 1 x 300T crawlers and crew, together with hydraulics, will be supporting this scope which is a fantastic outcome given that on the original Trains 1 & 2, the cranes were supplied by Mineral Resources and Freo.

Fortescue, Christmas Creek:

With Fortescue, we are embarking on the supply and construction of an overland conveyor and transfer station at the Christmas Creek mine site in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

The integrated contract encompasses civil, structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical and instrumentation works, with completion expected in the first half of 2024.

This contract further strengthens our relationship with Fortescue, following the Heavy Lift crane services contract we’ve held for more multiple years, the recently completed work at Iron Bridge, including the heavy haulage scope and the construction of the wet process plant.

These contract wins are a testament to our unwavering commitment to delivering top-notch services, fostering strong partnerships, and driving innovation within the industry. Congratulations to everyone involved in these remarkable accomplishments. We look forward to the exciting opportunities as we build a brighter future.
