15 projects and counting

Before the Front-End Recovery Plant project in Papua New Guinea wrapped up this month, we had a chat to Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Superintendent, Greg Jones, who has been with Monadelphous for over 15 years.

This Front-End Recovery Plant project marks Greg’s 15th project with Monadelphous, with his first project dating back to 2006.

Greg’s worked on a variety of projects, including water treatment plants, iron ore projects, general services packages for gas plant projects, upstream gas compressor stations along the East Coast of Australia and more recently projects in Papua New Guinea.

“I certainly haven’t had a shortage of variety, across both sectors and locations,” he said.

Having always worked in E&I, Greg’s first project with us was at the Kogan Creek Power Station for MIE, shortly after Monadelphous acquired the business. Soon after Greg got some exposure to the world of structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation.

In his current role as E&I Superintendent, Greg works with our supervisors to ensure projects are on the right path, have all the right materials and have the right people to complete the job safely and efficiently.

Greg has enjoyed his time at Monadelphous over the years and counts himself lucky to have been able to travel around Australia for work.

“I’ve been given the chance to work in so many different parts of Australia during my time with Monadelphous and have made some good friends along the way,” he said.

The opportunity to work around Australia and overseas in places such as Papua New Guinea has sparked Greg’s interest to complete more travel once he retires.

“It’s been great seeing different parts of Australia and I’m keen to take my wife with me to see more of the world.”

“Working in Papua New Guinea has been a wonderful experience and it’s been great getting around the island when we aren’t working to meet more of the locals and explore.”

Greg notes that finding the right people and setting up a project is the best part of his role.

“I really enjoy starting up projects, working with recruitment to get the right people on the job and just seeing the project take shape and come together.”

Away from work, Greg enjoys spending time with his family and tending to his garden.

“I’m actually a twin so I’m pretty connected with my family and love spending time with them.”
