Leadership Updates EC
3 Minute Read

It's been a while since our last update, and much has happened in recent months across our projects.

Starting with Mongolia, we are now in the final stages of our current project, with construction completion anticipated by mid-November. Off the back of our strong performance, we are actively exploring opportunities with our client to maintain a future presence on the OT site. Our safety record has been exceptional, positioning us not only as one of the leading contractors in Mongolia but also as a standout unit within Monadelphous. I would personally like to thank the entire team for your dedication and excellence in delivering this project.

On the electrical front, we continue to see exciting opportunities as the global focus on decarbonisation and renewable energy increases. Each week brings new interest from prospective clients, and as these opportunities progress, I look forward to sharing further details with you.

Operationally, our Jansz project continues to kick goals. The feedback from our client regarding our site performance and team culture has been exceptional, highlighting our commitment to excellence. In Gladstone, our day-to-day operations are progressing well and we have secured several small packages of work which will help us build momentum into the Christmas period. We’re also in the final stages of discussions for upcoming projects, which we’re eager to solidify.

As we approach the end of the year, we’ll be rolling out our ‘Finishing Strong, Starting Stronger’ campaign. I encourage everyone to actively participate in this initiative as we wrap up 2024 on a high note and set a strong foundation for the year ahead.

Thank you all for your ongoing hard work, dedication, and commitment to our shared success.

Welcome everyone to the Movember edition of On the Wire.

There are few people around with some unique moustachas, from the “Merv Hughes”, through to the “Charlie Chaplin” and everything in between. Thankfully it’s a blessing, that for some people that it is only for a month, however, we need to remember that it is for a great cause.

The EC HSE & Leadership Conference was held recently where there were several presentations, workshops and the guest speaker Rabia Siddique left quite an impact with the audience. It was great to see attendees from all areas of the business.

This month will see the start of this year’s vacation students where we will have Johane Swanepoel, Cayden Ninness and Tom Veith joining us for the summer period. All three have been allocated to projects including Chemical Grade Plant 3 (CGP3), Car Dumper 3 (CD3) and Jansz-Io respectively, once they finish off their stint in the Perth Office. Please make them feel welcome along with the other vacation students across the business.

On to the Project front where the CD3 team are currently executing pre-works for the arrival of a new substation schedule in January 2025. The team is finally getting some solid continuity with the execution and are making the most of the Nelson Point shutdowns to execute opportunistic work leading into next year’s major CD3 shutdown. This is also allowing them to grow their core crew with the ramp up to continue all the way into August 2025. On the back of this project’s success to date, there are some early works being scoped for CD4.

To Greenbushes, where the E&I Scope is in full swing. Jamie and Michael continuing to find opportunities with our SMP team to keep the flow of works going for their crews and prepare themselves for the influx of additional electricians due to mobilise in the coming months. Dave Chapple has been a recent addition to assist the team achieve some aggressive milestone dates before Christmas.

The Jansz-Io team over on Barrow Island steadily moving through their scope in a challenging brown fields environment with the focus on the Gas Insulated Substations installation. With the arrival of key component arriving to site they will be ready to hopefully get a clear run at their green fields scope including the assembly of the transformers and Sea Sub installation.

Western Range continues for Josh and his team where they have recently picked up some extra scope, this will see them out to the end of February 2025 and hopefully beyond. This is off the back of the great effort and results delivered by the team over the last four months.

To Gladstone, where the team continues to tick along, successfully delivering for their regular customers. A crew have now mobilised to Weipa to execute the E&I scope for M&IS on a Water Treatment Plant and the team have got their foot in the door back out at the Gladstone Ports Corporation. They are still inching closer to the award of what will hopefully be their biggest contract win to date. If successful, this will be a result of a drawn-out process that has taken a lot of effort and patience. Hopefully (second edition in a row), we will be able to provide a positive update on this in the next edition

Finally, the end of year safety campaigns are being rolled out across the sites to help keep everyone focussed during this traditionally higher risk period for our industry. Most of us want to enjoy some downtime to recharge over the festive season, so let’s make sure we get to that period, harm free. Look out for each other, keep your teams focused, and finish strong so you can enjoy the fruits of an enduring year.

That’s all for this month, stay safe and look out for each other.
