Welcome back to the new year.
We’ve hit the ground running in 2025, with a high level of tendering activity across all scales and sizes for our regular customers and new ones. A big thank you to the tendering team for their commitment over the holiday period, your efforts have ensured we continue putting our best foot forward and open up future opportunities.
It’s been great to see the momentum across all our sites as we start the year strong. I’d like to take a moment to congratulate Rob Jones, who was nominated for the Chevron SQELT Gold Coin Award and presented with a gold coin for his outstanding problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and commitment to safety and quality.
The renewables and decarbonisation sectors continue to see significant investment, particularly in construction opportunities with our tier 1 clients. We’re in a strong position to build on these relationships and participate in early contractor involvement opportunities, and we look forward to sharing more as the year unfolds.
I recently visited our team at Western Range, where client feedback on our electrical performance has been outstanding. As a direct result, we’ve been awarded additional work, allowing us to further grow the team and strengthen our position on future opportunities. The client specifically recognised our flexibility, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to delivering at a high standard, along with our unwavering focus on safety.
Thank you all for a fantastic start to the year. With strong momentum and plenty of opportunities ahead, I’m looking forward to what we can achieve together in 2025.
Damien.
Welcome everyone to the February edition of On the Wire.
We start this month’s edition by thanking and congratulating our vacation students for their contributions over the summer period when they participated in the Monadelphous Vacation Program. Their presentations clearly demonstrated how both they and their respective projects benefited from the experience. It was great to see their individual growth, and we hope to welcome Johane Swanepoel, Cayden Ninness, and Tom Veith back to the Monadelphous team in the future.
On the project front, the Car Dumper 3 (CD3) team recently landed the new substation, opening up a key and substantial work front for the team. Combined with the Nelson Point shutdowns - allowing for opportunistic work ahead of this year’s major CD3 shutdown - the team continues to strengthen its core crew.
Over at Greenbushes, the focus has now shifted to the wet plant after successfully completing the dry plant over the past few months. It was a huge effort to meet the milestone, but the team pulled together to deliver a successful outcome.
The Jansz team on Barrow Island has been busy installing the electrical rooms, which will now open up their Greenfields workfronts and hopefully provide a clear path forward. They’ve faced challenges but are working closely with the client to help achieve key project milestones.
Western Range keeps giving for Josh and his team where they continue to pick up extra scope which is off the back of the great performance to date. The team has been very flexible to assist where they can.
In Gladstone, the team continues to secure more work with both existing and new customers while delivering on current contracts. They have now mobilised to the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline Project, which we hope will mark the start of a successful partnership and continued growth.
Finally, we need to ensure that the “Line of Fire” risk is front of mind across all our projects. This is a critical risk, not just in our work but in everyday life. I encourage you all to take that extra time to assess the activity you are about to undertake and ask yourself, “What if?”. Your gut feeling is usually telling you something, so it will pay to listen.
That’s all for this month, stay safe and look out for each other,
Iain.
