Earlier this year, we proudly celebrated a major milestone: the 10-year service anniversary of Bilguun, one of our dedicated team members based out of Monadelphous’ Mongolia office.
His passion for practical problem solving and his calm, can-do attitude plays a key role in keeping projects moving and partnerships thriving across borders.
Bilguun joined Monadelphous Mongolia as a Project Engineer in 2015 and, after two years, moved into procurement and logistics during the Oyu Tolgoi project – where he’s been ever since.
His understanding of both Monos’ and Mongolian culture helps him bring a unique blend of insight and expertise to the team. He also holds degrees in both Mining Engineering and International Relations, making him well-equipped to navigate the complexities of procurement and logistics in a global context.
His day-to-day tasks include: sourcing materials and equipment; ensuring timely and safe delivery; handling customs; troubleshooting the unexpected; and, most importantly, problem-solving when things don’t go to plan.
“I enjoy the variety and practical challenges that each day brings,” Bilguun said.
“One day I’m reviewing quotes and negotiating with suppliers, and the next I’m organising transport across borders or troubleshooting a last-minute delivery issue.
“I also enjoy working with different teams and suppliers, building relationships that help us deliver on our commitments.”
The move into procurement has given him a new opportunity to deepen his knowledge and build on his skills, and is a role that he feels he truly belongs in.
When he’s not coordinating project deliveries, Bilguun is a committed CrossFit enthusiast, training every other day to stay sharp, strong and energised. He also possesses a deep love for travel and exploring new cultures – a curiosity that mirrors his approach to teamwork and connection. At home, Bilguun loves spending quality time with his young family, something that helps him stay grounded.
So, it seems only fitting that he celebrated his 10-year anniversary with lunch with his work friends, followed by a cosy dinner with family.
His love for the work he does is ever present in the advice he gives people considering joining construction and engineering.
"This industry is great for people who enjoy variety, solving practical problems, and seeing the real impact of their work,” he said.
“No two days are the same, and there’s always something new to learn, whether it’s technical knowledge or working with people from different backgrounds.
“It’s a rewarding environment if you’re looking to grow, contribute to meaningful projects, and build a solid career.”
Here’s to Bilguun and his 10 years at Monos’. We’re lucky to have him on the team and we can’t wait to see where the next chapter leads!
