Leadership Updates
2 Minute Read

Welcome back to On the Wire for March.

I have recently returned from my first trip to the Gladstone branch, where I got to meet more of the team at both the workshop and on site at the QAL North Decant project. The trip finished off with a couple of days in the Brisbane office where we started our yearly business unit planning cycle. I have many more locations to still get to and many teammates to still meet which I look forward to doing over the coming months. Thanks to everyone who hosted me and took the time to meet me, I enjoyed seeing more of our E&I business and meeting you all.

On the safety front, unfortunately we experienced our first recordable incident in a long time as a result of someone tripping and sustaining a cut to their hand. The injured person recovered quickly and was well cared for, however, it serves as an important reminder that we need to be aware of our surroundings, take care transiting to and from the work fronts and ensure we undertake a proper inspection of our work fronts before commencing works.

Tendering activity has continued at unprecedented highs, there are some significant opportunities on both the west and east coast of Australia that we are actively pursuing. There’s an exciting period ahead of us, and I look forward to being able to share our successes in upcoming newsletters.

This month marked International Women’s Day, it provides a great opportunity to reflect and take action on creating a more equitable workplace and society for women. Diversity and inclusion from a business perspective creates collective thinking, it enables many ideas to come together to create an overall balanced view of what we do and the best solutions about how to deal with a task/challenge at hand.

From a personal perspective, I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to grow and develop no matter what their gender or background is. There’s been constraints for women in the past which has in places created a disadvantage, and it’s important that we all do our part to educate ourselves, understand the different starting points for people and put measures in place to overcome some of these constraints. We are all people and we should have equitable conditions to be able to succeed.

Finally, the results from the Monadelphous Employee Engagement Survey are featured in this edition. Thank you to every who took the time to complete the survey, the insights are incredibly important to us. This is not the end of the feedback, we’ve been working through the results and planning actions, so watch this space for more on what’s to come.

Hanno is on some well earned rest and will be back next month to deliver an operational update.

Until next time, stay safe.

Damien
