Leadership Updates
1 Minute Read

Welcome everyone to the Movember edition of On the Wire. There are plenty of people around now with some interesting moustaches, from the “Merv Hughes”, through to the “Charlie Chaplin” and everything in between. Thankfully it’s a blessing, that for some people that it is only for a month, however, we need to remember that it is for a great cause.

Whilst we are on the subject of health, the infamous COVID seems to be lingering around and challenging us again with numbers on the increase. It is a timely reminder for us all to keep on top of our hygiene practices and other preventative measures. If you have any symptoms, get tested and stay at home to avoid transmission to your teammates.

On the project front, the team at Iron Bridge in the Pilbara, are ramping up to execute the works recently awarded by Fortescue Metals Group (FMG). As usual there is plenty to do in a challenging timeframe however, the team is well positioned to validate the decision made by FMG.

Down to Bridgetown, WA, where the E&I team, led by Dave Chapple, have mobilised to kick off the E&I scope on the Mine Services Area (MSA) project for Talison Lithium. They have a steady start but will be gearing up for an influx of people in the new year to meet their completion date.

Over to Gladstone, QLD, where the ‘Little General’ continues to kick goals and has one of his team’s transitioning onto another project after the successful completion of Alpha HPA. Well done to the team and I look forward to you carrying this success onto our next project.

The projects have kept the recruitment team busy in a challenging labour market where they are continuously pushing the boundaries to fill the vacancies. The next couple of years will bring us into unprecedented times for the industry where the challenge to find labour for the quantum of projects commencing, will become increasingly harder in a diminishing labour pool. Monadelphous’s main asset is its people, and we will need to draw on these to continue the strong performance for our customers.

Finally, the “Finish Strong, Starting Stronger” campaign is being rolled out across the sites to help keep everyone focus during this traditionally higher risk period for our industry. Most of us want to enjoy some downtime to recharge over the festive season, so let’s make sure we get to that period, harm free. So, look out for each other, keep your teams focussed, and finish strong so you can enjoy the fruits of an enduring year.

Stay Safe
