Meet Cameron Stonier, an undergraduate who was in our vacation program over the past few months, while studying a double degree in Mechanical Engineering and Management.

As his time with our vacation program came to an end, we caught up with Cameron. We asked about his experience so far and what advice he had for other soon to be graduates.

Cameron said he was grateful to have the opportunity to be part of our Oil and Gas team in the vacation program and to then be able to re-join in the graduate program once he completes his studies.

“I’ve been with Monadelphous since November 2022, having joined the vacation program during the university break and it has been an awesome experience,” he said.

“I’m about to go into my final semester of university and I’m keen to return to Monadelphous after I graduate.

“I’ve had a great time working with the team as they were always willing to help me whenever I needed it and were easy to get along with.”

Cameron also had the chance to head to the Pluto LNG Plant, where he could see the work scopes in person.

“Being able to get out to site was a great experience and gave me a different perspective on the work that is being done,” he said.

As someone who is just starting out in the industry, Cameron said that his advice for anyone who is a newcomer to the industry is to ask as many questions as you can.

“In the end we are all working together so everyone will be willing to answer your questions – it makes it easier for everyone if you know what you’re doing so just ask if you’re unsure,” he said.

“I also believe that you should always say yes to any opportunity that arises, while early in your career, to try and get as much experience as possible.”

Outside of work, Cameron is a big sports fan, specifically soccer. He enjoys both playing and watching the sport and will typically spend most of his time catching up with overnight games or organising a kick around with friends.

It’s great to see graduates like Cameron getting valuable work experience and taking advantage of every opportunity presented to them.
