The M&IS Energy team has recently onboarded a new member to its fleet – an electric people mover which will be transporting the team to and from the Karratha Gas Plant (KGP).
The Mercedes EVito minivan has been provided to us by Winyama Contracting group, a local Karratha majority Indigenous-owned and operated business.
Winyama Contracting Group is a fully certified Supply Nation business that aims to be an agent of change, demonstrating renewable energy performance in the Pilbara region, and evaluate the early adoption of electric vehicles in Pilbara conditions. Winyma Contracting Groups core business is supporting Tier 1 Mining and Energy companies with Civil and Concreting works. “We know how important it is to make the change between diesel and electric vehicles, as well as support local businesses that focus on environmental initiatives,” Jamie Burgess, Project Director said.
As we continue our journey towards net zero, small changes like this make a difference.
“The replacement of two diesel vehicles at KGP with this electric people mover is a step in the direction of embedding low emission alternatives into our everyday operating activities,” Rebecca Voyer, Group Environmental Lead said.
“Well done M&IS Energy for collaborating with Winyama and our customer, who has a charging station at KGP making this easy to implement.”
This initiative supports our net zero focus area of ‘Greening the Fleet’ and will reduce emissions and costs associated with operating diesel vehicles.
