Taking a Monos Moment for Safety

In December we awarded several very worthy Monos Moments to Oil and Gas team members who were peer-nominated for going the extra mile and demonstrating our core values.

Mechanical Work Pack Preparer John Schroeder was one of the recipients, recognised for showing outstanding commitment to safety in the workplace.

John was tasked with reviewing a work order prior to execution onboard. He picked up that the ICC was live and had not been checked before implementation.

He also identified the valves had not been appropriately identified in SAP and ICC documentation so went on to investigate the possible reasons for confusion.

In his investigations, John found the original vendor documentation for Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams used from construction, where he found that incorrect naming convention used in the Field Management System pack had led to the issue.

After John raised the issue with the team and his concerns from a safety perspective, the team ensured the right valve had been isolated.

Senior Project Engineer Tom Shenton nominated John for being proactive and committed to the safety of the team.

“John took the initiative both to get to the bottom of the problem and seek an immediate resolution – he is a highly valued member of the team who works hard to keep our team safe offshore,” he said.

Congratulations to John for the well-earned Monos Moment.

If you see a Monos Moment you can take two minutes to put them forward. Whether it is big, small, at work or beyond, the only criteria are that there is a clear link to one or more of the Monadelphous values:

Safety and Wellbeing    Integrity    Achievement    Teamwork     Loyalty
