Leadership Updates
2 Minute Read

Welcome to the latest and last edition of The Fix for 2023.

After several months of good safety performance which included our entire Maintenance & Industrial Services division achieving a recordable injury free month in September, a first since 2019, we have unfortunately had a number of injuries to our people in the last two months. All of these injuries could have been prevented. As the end of the year draws closer, it is normal to be a little tired from a busy year and to start looking forward to that well-deserved break. In these circumstances, it can be easy to drop the ball on our focus towards safety. Everyone deserves to get home safely at the end of their day, every day, so please use this as a reminder that we must continue to prioritise safety by looking after yourselves and your teammates.

In this edition of our newsletter, learn more about Steve and Brad Murray, brothers who both recently celebrated a decade of service with Monadelphous. Watch the video on the completion of the belt replacement project in Tom Price, and check out The Resilience Project’s Digital Wellbeing Series, which is free to access for all Monadelphous employees and their families.

We also put a spotlight on the Hawser Rail Upgrade project which is being completed by our Coastal & West Pilbara Operations project team. This project involves the installation of 32 new dolphin decks with raised hawser rails which will lead to greater safety for mooring activities.

I’m pleased to share that our new home in Karratha at Gap Ridge is progressing well which is a significant investment and part of our long-term commitment to the region – see pictures below.

As part of this, we also recently launched the Karratha Community Grants Program to continue to build on our investment in the local community, where many of our people live and work. Earlier this month we awarded 21 local groups and grassroots organisations with grants. I look forward to bringing you some of their stories in the new year.

Onto our individual awards for the month, congratulations to November’s Safety Champion Sivabalan Shunmugam and our Northern Star Award winners for the month, Kellie Crofts and Danielle Browne from our Workforce Management team. Continuing to recognise team members who go above and beyond is important, so please remember to keep putting forward worthy nominees.

At the end of November, some of our team gathered in Perth for an annual MMNW Business Update which was a great opportunity to reflect on our successes and our strategy for the year ahead as well as to connect with peers. We also awarded Annika Clarke from the Port and East Pilbara Operations team with the M&IS MMNW ‘Northern Star Employee of the Year’ and Shaun Lewis, Gareth Jackson, Campbell Edwards of the Dampier Idler crew with the overall ‘2023 Safety Champion Employee of the Year’. Thanks to everyone who attended and congratulations to our winners – you are all very deserving recipients.

I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge everyone’s efforts this year for what has been another busy year across the North-West. We’ve had a big year, and this workload is set to continue into 2024, with plenty of projects in the pipeline and a high level of activity within our tendering team.

I hope you and your families have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and I look forward to welcoming you all back in 2024.

Enjoy this edition and, as always, the safe way is the only way.
