Meet Jordan May, a dedicated engineer, who is set to take on a remarkable journey through the middle of Australia in a $1,500 Sh*tbox while camping in remote communities along the way, all in the name of charity.

In April 2024, Jordan and a close mate will put their friendship to the test in the week-long Sh*tbox Rally as they drive from Adelaide to Perth via Uluru alongside approximately 225 other teams to raise money for cancer research.

"Almost everyone has been affected by cancer in one way or another. The opportunity to get out there with a mate and do something unique, positive and proactive brings an element of fun to raising money to cure this heartbreaking disease," Jordan said.

While they have already met the minimum fundraising requirement of $5,000 to participate, Jordan hopes to double the donation, noting the importance of what this funding could do.

"Box Rallies have raised over $40 million for the Cancer Council over the last 14 years and have funded some of the most exciting cancer research projects across the country in recent years, so any donations towards this would be incredibly appreciated," he said.

Starting at Monadelphous six years ago, during his final year of studying for a Master of Mechanical Engineering at UWA, Jordan made his way from our vacation program to becoming a Project Lead.

"I was offered a position on the vacation program during my final year of studying. I spent three months in Karratha over the Summer getting a taste of FIFO life and learning what iron ore mining and project engineering is all about."

From there, Jordan joined our graduate program, where he continued to excel and grow. Today, he is a Project Lead in the Karratha project team, overseeing crucial sustaining capital projects at the Cape Lambert and Dampier ports.

"I have had the opportunity to work on various projects spanning many disciplines. Each day has a different challenge, but it is really rewarding to see your planning efforts in the office come together in the field," he said.

A defining feature of Jordan's journey at Monadelphous is the camaraderie and shared passion for achievement among his teammates.

"My favourite thing about Monadelphous is the people I work with. We are a really close team that shares in each other's successes and learnings. There is a genuine passion for achievement and growth which underpins how we work, right through from our management to our crews in the field," he said.

Jordan expressed his gratitude to those who have already contributed and significantly impacted the fight against cancer.
