Since beginning our partnership with the University of Western Australia’s (UWA) Girls in Engineering program in 2018 with founding partner Rio Tinto, Monos employees have enjoyed presenting at schools, speaking at events, and facilitating workshops in regional hubs in Western Australia.

Five students and two staff from the Girls in Engineering UWA team recently travelled to Karratha and visited the Monadelphous workshop to get a taste of life on site, hearing about our current projects and teams’ experiences.

Speaking of the visit, Girls in Engineering Coordinator Katie said “I can’t thank the guys up there enough for the talk they gave the students. They ran through the projects they’re currently working on and a really honest overview of how a project engineer spends their time.

“The girls felt incredibly comfortable asking questions and came away with a really fantastic impression of the Monadelphous grad program. The content the guys covered was pitched at the perfect level and we would absolutely love to repeat the visit during the 2023 tour.”

As part of the trip, the team from UWA also spoke to almost 1,000 students from Roebourne District High School, St Luke’s College, and Karratha Senior High School, about pursuing pathways in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
