Sleep out for soul

On a cool Newcastle night some of our Zenviron team, our renewables joint venture , gathered their sleeping bags and camped up for the night in the corner of a carpark as part of the 2022 Sleepout for Soul to raise funds to support the Soul Cafe, a Newcastle charity supporting homeless and vulnerable people in the local community.

The Zenviron team raised over $5,000 thanks to the generous donations from many family, friends, and construction partners; contributing to the more than $200,000 total from the night.

Soul Café’s vision is to build a charity dedicated to helping the most vulnerable people in the local community. As well as serving up meals, they go beyond this to cater to the whole person.

The guests who come through Soul’s doors are from all walks of life. They see large levels of brokenness, homelessness and mental challenges, but never judge. Soul Cafe are simply there to offer sustenance, a friendly face, and many other types of essential support.

From accommodation to drug and substance abuse programs, haircuts, laundry and legal and medical services, whatever their guests need, they help them access it.

As a proud sponsor of the Soul Café, to date the Zenviron team have contributed to the Guest SmartRecover Program (a group recovery program for people with drug and alcohol addictions) as well as assisting with the modernisation of their IT setup by way of donating a number of laptop computers and monitors.

The team are excited about the ongoing partnership with the Soul Cafe, and look forward to many years of continued support for this tremendous cause.
