Our team in the Goldfields have completed another successful shutdown at the Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter as part of our existing mechanical and electrical maintenance, shutdown and project services contract across BHP’s Nickel West operations.

The shutdown involved replacing a spray cooling tower and air quench duct, all within a four-week timeframe.

Project Engineer Johnathon Bates commended the team on a great job, which included working through a few challenges.

“We experienced some supply issues and lost three shifts due to rain and lightning,” he said.

“Full credit to the team for their work in being able to deliver the project to a high standard, on time and, most importantly, safely.”

As the team worked through our recent 50-year celebratory barbeque at the Kalgoorlie workshop, they enjoyed a toastie and coffee from Queen Bees food van on the day.

Well done to all involved for your dedication to ensuring we deliver consistently for our customer.
