Leadership Updates
2 Minute Read

G’day everyone.

Welcome to the latest edition of In The Loop.

Every action, big or small, that brings us closer to our Net Zero goals should be celebrated. In this edition, we feature a sustainability win with our Chinchilla and Newcastle workshops replacing their fluorescent and halogen lights with lower-wattage LED alternatives, reinforcing our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint. Well done to all involved, and I look forward to sharing many more environmental initiatives rolling out across the business. Whether you're leading a local effort or part of a larger sustainability push, please send your stories and projects through to enviro@monadel.com.au.

Looking now to Papua New Guinea, our local work team successfully completed the ADD1/ADT4 Flowline Repairs project for Santos in the Southern Highlands region. Our national supervisors play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the workforce in the Southern Highlands, and the success of this project demonstrates how important national supervision is in managing critical projects.

The BMC team recently completed a shutdown in Traralgon, Victoria in collaboration with Alinta Energy. I am extremely proud to say that the outage was completed on schedule, with zero injuries or quality issues – this is a testament to the team’s efforts and the alignment in values between Monadelphous and Alinta Energy.

Earlier this year, we introduced our ‘hands-off’ rigging approach across Monadelphous as we work to eliminate the risk of harm to our people. You can read about how we have reinforced this via the rollout of hands-off rigging at Newmont’s Lihir Island operations, which will keep our doggers and riggers out of the line of fire. Thank you all for supporting this important safety initiative, and for your ongoing commitment to our guiding principle – The Safe Way is the Only Way.

Keeping on the topic of safety, our Newcastle team explored an alternative approach to operating a crane inside a limited space, designing a C-hook frame to provide optimal manoeuvrability and strength. The C-hook frame was utilised by the team to remove and replace three grain silo roofs, all while reducing exposure to falling objects and minimising the time required to work at heights. A fantastic demonstration of innovative thinking.

Finally, please join me in wishing Wayne Atkinson, affectionately known as “G” or “The General” a happy retirement. Wayne has been with Monadelphous for more than three decades and his dedication has earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and leaders alike. We wish you all the best for the next chapter, G!

Thank you to everyone for your dedication and hard work throughout the 2023-24 financial year. I am looking forward to seeing what we achieve together over the next 12 months.

Take care and stay safe.
