Gladstone goes green

Each August, Keep Australia Beautiful runs a national campaign to raise awareness about the simple actions we can all take to reduce our environmental impact.

Monadelphous has been a proud supporter of this initiative for several years, with many of our sites participating in local clean-up events as part of our broader commitment to environmental stewardship.

Across the week, volunteers gathered together to support our ongoing efforts to Keep Australia Beautiful.

Massive thank you to those who took time out of their busy schedules to help clean up areas where we live, work and play and to those who joined online for our “Lunch and Learn” with Candice Myers from Cleanaway. You can jump online to watch Candice and Bec’s chat here.

This year, the Gladstone team joined in, with 10 team members rolling up their sleeves to clean up around the facility.

We spoke with Site HSE Coordinator Kellie Davidson, who shared that the location was chosen based on team members' preferences, making the effort even more meaningful.

The clean-up was not just about removing litter but also allowed team members to partner up, chat, and get to know each other better.

Among the usual litter, the team found some interesting items, including a baby shoe, which brought a bit of humour to the day. Overall, the clean-up was a great success, with everyone feeling good about positively impacting their community.

Our commitment to initiatives like this is part of our greater Community Engagement Plan, which focuses on supporting our people, the communities and the environments where we live and work.
