Leadership Updates EC
2 Minute Read

Welcome to the latest edition of On the Hook for 2025. Easter came at a very busy time for Heavy Lift and a massive call out to the entire team for your huge effort over this period. We have lots of great news to share!

For 6 consecutive weeks commencing early March the Fortescue team completed back-to-back shut down work across Solomon and Eliwana. A massive achievement in planning, mobilisation and effective execution. This run of shutdowns required all operational areas to contribute including Port Hedland and Karratha. The teams remained focussed and committed to the job at hand and to keeping each other safe. Many people went out of their way to ensure they remained flexible and responsive to changing plans. Thank you and congratulations to everyone involved.

The Port Hedland Heavy lift team have been busy supporting CD3 works including the mobilisation of the “Rubino” CC88.1600T to BHP in preparation for major lifts over the coming months. A great effort by the team to complete the complex assembly of the crane on site successfully applying hands off rigging.

We continue to support the CGP 3 project team at Greenbushes and have recently mobilised a 400T crawler to the Prominent Hill Expansion project supporting our broader EC team supply and install the skyshaft transfer conveyor, overland conveyor and related switch rooms/substations. There are several critical lifting operations scheduled, some with extremely tight tolerances, all of which will be supported by our heavy lift engineering team and specialist operators.

Our Woodside Crane Services team secured multiple small projects in the month with an additional 5 cranes required above the normal fixed plant requirements.

A major milestone was achieved at the end of March for Alevro and Heavy Lift supporting the Pluto Train 1 project after successfully received the first module - the Gas Metering Skid, weighing just under 200 tonnes at the BMF Wharf in Dampier. This module will be transported to site mid-May and installed using our specialised hydraulic gantry system. This marks the beginning of module movements for the Pluto Train 1 Project, which will ramp up to the delivery of the largest module, estimated at over 4,700 tonnes, in February 2026.

Commencing mobilisation to site in February this year, we achieved the first major milestone for Project Ceres with the arrival of the first module shipment in March. Still in the early stages, this Project will involve up to 40 personnel and the transport and installation of an impressive 113 modules from module ships to site over the course of 18 months.

A personal highlight for me was attending BAUMA 2025, the world’s largest construction machinery conference in Munich, Germany in March. Accompanied by Operations Manager, Marlon Baars, the conference provided an opportunity to challenge our thinking on the use of alternative equipment to execute construction work with the aim of enhanced productivity. The conference also focussed on the benefits of technology in enabling connected machines and the growing global momentum towards decarbonisation.

Held every three years, BAUMA is a great platform for inspiring innovation, forming new partnerships and a source of inspiration for the future, bringing together industry leaders and innovators.

I was also able to visit a Tadano and 2 Liebherr factories during the week and meet with their global leaders to discuss future investment in our fleet. Overall, it was an amazing experience to engage, connect and learn.

Following the roll-out of the Monadelphous-wide Respect in Every Step campaign, reinforcing the importance of a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace, I would like to remind you all of the important role each of us plays in shaping our team culture. Having a work environment where everyone feels that their contribution is valued and that differences in views are embraced is important to provide a creative and happy environment. Continue to treat people how you would like to be treated.

It’s been an incredibly exciting start to the year, and I look forward to seeing our hard work continue to pay off and the success we will achieve together leading into the second half of the calendar year.

Until next time, stay safe.

Lorna
