Gap Ridge Update

Our teams in Karratha are preparing to move into the much-anticipated new Gap Ridge facility, which has been completed ahead of schedule.

The facility will be Monadelphous’ new hub in the region to support Mining & Minerals North West, Engineering Construction projects, Heavy Lift, and Group Assets for storage, logistics, and equipment. Located just off Dampier Road, the Gap Ridge Industrial Estate is two kilometres from the airport and nine kilometres from the Karratha town centre.

“This impressive facility demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the North-West and our confidence in the strong pipeline of work opportunities in the region. This facility showcases our multi-disciplined service offering to our clients and we have a fantastic opportunity to work closely together and leverage value as an integrated team," Lorna Rechichi, General Manager Heavy Lift, said..

This space replaces the workshop located in the Karratha Light Industrial Estate (LIA) with modern facilities needed for both current and future operations. This includes 2,975 sqm of workshops and a 615 sqm office for approximately 50 people.

Aiming for improved functionality, there are provisions for vehicle and crane servicing, a wash down area, a fabrication workshop and warehousing facilities.

Group Property Manager John Collings says the construction provides ample area for laydown and storage of cranes, plant and equipment on the 6.8 hectare site.

“There are three separate workshops used for fabrication, storage and management of materials, as well as a service workshop for our crane and vehicle fleet,” John said.

“Each workshop has been designed with input from the business units to meet their separate requirements.”

The design includes insulated roof panels to reduce heat gain, translucent sheets for natural light, natural ventilation by wall and roof louvers, LED lighting, zoned lighting and AC controls, and fibre-reinforced concrete. As a step towards a more sustainable future, the facility will be powered by a 99-kilowatt solar system.

All the structural steel for the project was procured and supplied by Interforge, while the Heavy Lift team provided all the cranes and operators during the construction period.

The team have been working hard on the fit-out to prepare for the LIA's relocation.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the collective efforts that resulted in a safe and smooth build.
