Continuing from the last edition of Meet the HL Engineering Team spotlighting Leo, Josven and Evie we now turn our focus to some of our other integral members.

In this edition, we will be featuring German, Antonino and Deyu as they share insights into the milestones of their careers and their journeys with Monadelphous.  

 

Name and Job Title: German Vicente Arenas, Senior Project Engineer 

Monos Tenure: January 9, 2024 

Experience in HL Industry: 8 years 

Background: 

German joined the heavy lift industry as a trainee with ALE after attending a university presentation in Spain. After completing his master's in civil engineering, he rejoined ALE in Australia and subsequently became a Mammoet employee following the merger of ALE and Mammoet. Throughout his career, he has been exposed to a variety of projects, including civil infrastructure, wind farms, and road transport of large modules. 

What they bring to Monos: 

  • Windfarm Lift Planning: Expertise in reducing assembly time and civil works for wind turbines. 
  • Special Devices Experience: Skilled in using skidding, strand jacks, jacking, and hydraulic gantries. 
  • SPMT Transport Experience: Diverse background in SPMT transports, offering bespoke solutions. 
  • Design of Specific Steel Structures: Experience in creating steel structures for supporting and lifting loads. 
  • Innovative Heavy Lifting Solutions: Ability to perform installations without the need for cranes. 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities: 

  • Creating lifting and transport studies. 
  • Developing innovative methods for moving loads. 

What the HL team offers:

Name and Job Title: Antonino Rioli, Project Engineer 

Monos Tenure: 2019 

Experience in HL Industry: 2 years 

Background: 

Antonino began his journey at M&IS as an undergraduate in 2019, progressing to the graduate program in February 2020. Initially involved in BHP WAIO shuts onsite, he later transitioned to tendering for M&IS projects and undertaking additional onsite project work. His role then shifted to the fabrication team within M&IS, where he focused on material take-offs, obtaining quotes from fabricators, and comparing them with internal estimates. Antonino was responsible for tender submissions, cost management across fabricator and internal expenses, and ensuring compliance with Australian Standards for QA/QC. He also oversaw MDR reviews, including NDT results and welder qualifications. In September 2022, he transferred to EC Heavy Lift, where he contributed to projects such as FMG maintenance, the Iron Bridge transport scope, the West Gate Tunnel Project, and various crane and SPMT related assignments. 

Notable Experience: 

  • Extensive exposure to a wide range of areas within the industry

  • Conducting lift studies 
  • Performing SPMT transport studies

Name and Job Title: Deyu Zeng, Drafter 

Monos Tenure: January 17, 2022 

Experience in HL Industry: 2 years 

Background: 

Deyu Zeng has experience in the electrical, mechanical, and structural realms prior to joining Monadelphous.  He specialized in enclosures, electrical components, switchrooms, and kiosks. He has been involved in projects up to 50 meters long and served as a lecturer at TAFE for two years, teaching civil structural drafting. Within Monadelphous Deyu has supported the development of the Plug & Play system.  

What they bring to Monos: 

  • Technical knowledge: understanding of electrical and mechanical systems. 
  • Cross-Disciplinary Knowledge: Across electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering. 
  • Drafting Skills: Proficient in civil structural drafting. 
  • Industry Connections and Insight: Network and deep industry understanding. 
  • Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of safety standards and regulations. 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities: 

  • Developing Master drawings and improving templates 
  • Providing 3d/2d drafting drawings to support engineered solutions 

What the HL team offers:
