Our Crane Operations Pathway Traineeship Program recently gained national recognition, being named as a finalist in the Outstanding Company Initiative category at the BHP Women in Resources National Awards (WIRNA) 2024, held in Canberra.
The nomination reflects our commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion in the heavy lift industry.
Lorna Rechichi, GM Heavy Lift, sat down with Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CMEWA) and delved deeper on the Program. Watch the video to hear first-hand how we're addressing the female skills shortage in the industry.
Our recognition at WIRNA follows our success at the 2024 CMEWA Women in Resources Awards in Perth earlier this year, where we won in the same category.
The Crane Operations Pathway Traineeship Program, launched by our Heavy Lift team, offers women and Indigenous trainees a supportive and structured path to becoming qualified crane operators. Upon completion, participants gain nationally-recognised qualifications and transition into full-time positions with our Heavy Lift business.
This program aligns with our Gender Diversity and Inclusion Plan 2021-2024, which aims to increase female representation in trade roles within Monadelphous.
With its dedicated support through onsite coordinators and focus on career-long development, the program is making a significant impact on the industry's underrepresentation of female and Indigenous workers.
This initiative has been instrumental in boosting female participation, a crucial step considering women make up only 2% of non-traditional roles in cranage.
Looking ahead, Monadelphous is expanding this successful program. A new Pathways Program, set to launch in our Energy business in partnership with Woodside, will aim to increase female participation in our Karratha operations using the same supportive model.
