The Monadelphous Rigging Facility has long been an essential asset for the business, growing from an equipment storage facility to a strategically important resource for the company's operational needs.
Located in the Perth Bibra Lake Depot, the Rigging Facility offers a distinctive suite of services that sets it apart from traditional equipment providers. With in-house rigging expertise, the team provides selection advice across over 1,000 items and can source any rigging product to meet specific project needs.
The facility now has impressive capabilities, including:
- 200 tonne horizontal test bed for tensile testing
- 5 tonne vertical calibrated dead test weight stand
- Extensive lifting gear management, including:
- Spreader beams and end caps capable of handling up to 400 tonnes over 23 meters long
- Shackles up to 600 tonne capacity
- Wire rope and synthetic slings up to 250 tonnes
- Load cells 2 tonnes to 200 tonnes
- Snatch blocks from 2 tonnes to 80 tonnes
- Hoisting equipment from 250kgs to 30 tonnes
- Equalising plates from 10 tonnes to 100 tonnes
- 20ft and 40ft rigging containers
Adrian Griffiths, the Facility Superintendent with 11 years of industry experience, leads a team of highly skilled professionals.
"Our goal is to operate as a critical company resource while maintaining cost-effectiveness for our business units," says Aiden.
“This approach has transformed the Rigging Facility from a simple storage solution to a strategic asset that supports Monadelphous' operational excellence.”
A recent highlight has been the successful product launch of grade “S” safety bow shackles, featuring unique and customised Monadelphous red coloured pin.
“This easily identifies Monadelphous owned shackles quickly separating the unique colour from external equipment. This is very useful in the “shutdown” space as many contractors work in the same area where rigging can get easily mixed, resulting in losses,” Adrian adds.
Holding accreditations from LEEA (Lifting Equipment Engineers Association) and NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities), the facility operates at the highest industry standards.
The facility's operation goes beyond equipment storage. It ensures full traceability of documentation, maintains a comprehensive company rigging database, and provides technical advice and support for site audits.
With a forward-thinking approach, the facility has also implemented a trainee program to develop future talent, with plans to expand to levels 2 and 3 technician training.
