Following our last newsletter, I have recently returned from a fantastic trip to Mongolia. I had the pleasure of taking Adam Cook, our Executive General Manager of Engineering Construction, for his first trip over to Mongolia to spend time on-site and in our head office. The project is going from strength to strength, with over 75% of the work completed, and we have had some excellent traction on progress over the past six weeks. I am looking forward to the team finishing this project strongly. The safety record has been outstanding however we need to maintain our relentless focus on safety, particularly coming up to the holiday season. We’ve been busy looking for more opportunities/new work, and we’ll keep you updated on any progress towards these. I would personally like to thank everyone for their time and for organising a seamless trip.
As for the E&I business unit, we provided a wrap-up of all the contracts last month, which can be viewed in this link. Notwithstanding these recent awards, tendering opportunities remain at an all-time high, and we are currently providing pricing to companies for works commencing in 2024 and 2025 after this current round of projects.
As alluded to in the last edition, this is an exciting time for the business. We must go into this period with a significant focus on our successful delivery. There will be many newcomers to the company, and we all have a part to play in the onboarding of our new team members by making them feel welcome and part of the Monadelphous team.
We are heading into the holiday and festive season; as always, we are running our safety campaign around this time of year, focusing on mental health. We will be rolling out various activities on-site; you can view these via the link.
Thank you for your dedication and commitment. Let’s carry the positive momentum into the upcoming season and ensure a safe and successful close to the year.

Operational update from Operations Manager, Iain Hannant
Welcome everyone to the Movember edition of On the Wire. Plenty of people are around now with some interesting moustaches, from the “Merv Hughes” to the “Charlie Chaplin” and everything in between. Thankfully, it’s a blessing that it is only for a month for some people. However, we need to remember that it is for a great cause.
As always, safety is at the forefront of our minds, so I am kicking off this month by recognising the Gladstone Branch for implementing the Hard Barricade Trailers. This was a result of the Annual Gladstone Safety Forum held in August, where it was identified that due to the nature of the work within the brownfields sites, along with plant operational requirements, it was becoming increasingly difficult to transport, set up, pack up and transport back to storage daily. These trailers can be mobilised to the job front and left there for the team to set up and pack away the hard barricade efficiently each shift without interfering with plant operations.
On the project front, the TUL Project Team have successfully completed another shutdown and is gearing up for their final shutdown before Christmas. At Kathleen Valley, the team continues to ramp up in line with the multitude of work fronts presenting on site. CD3 continues to tick along with the client continuing to award the team additional work, knowing that Monadelphous can deliver on time and safely, which is a credit to the team.
The team at Christmas Creek are about to enter the start of a hectic four months, seeing a ramp-up of blue-collar and supervision in January, down to Kemerton Lithium Project where Dave Chapple (E&I Construction Manager) has mobilised for site set-up and preparations for a steep ramp up in the new year.
Finally, we have entered the time of year traditionally known as the “Silly Season”. Toolboxes are being rolled out across the sites to help keep everyone focussed during this historically higher risk period for our industry. Most of us want to enjoy some downtime to recharge over the festive season, so let’s ensure we get to that period harm-free. So, look out for each other, keep your teams focused, and finish strong so you can enjoy the fruits of an enduring year.
That’s all for this month, stay safe.
Iain Hannant
